Default Food for battle in PvP and PvE for some.

I think that the idea of introducing food into the world each with it's own attributes.. maybe by adding more armor for warriors.. or more attributes for a limited amount of time where that food is still active until it wears off. This was a huge aspect to PvP in FFXI and if you went without food in the more advanced PvE battles you were at great risk of dieng. I think this would introduce a lot more different strategies by choosing which food you use for a specific battle and what not.

Just my two cents... hit me up with what you think.

Thanks.

I think this is the sort of thing that GW is intentionally trying to stay away from. I liked how food worked in FF XI, WoW, etc. but it really doesn't fit with Guild Wars. What would end up happening is that you'd be forced to spend money on food in order to max out your potential in combat before a fight. Besides being a big hassle, it would take away from the idea that skill is really what wins the day.

Wrong, it's not just skill that was intended for this game, it is also strategy, having each team member use a type of food that will not only go along with their strategy but also help other users save up energy. ie: Monk saving healing energy used to heal a tank with less armor. The strategy in using a type of food that gives the tank less damage from physical attacks and a Monk using food that gives energy storage... maybe having the food have a lot less cost... but a lot less time making the usage of the food more "strategic" the stereotype this game has been focusing on along with skill. This game wasn't meant to be all skill but along with teamwork, strategy, and communication.

And btw, if you played the beta dont give me shit about having it take time to get gold.... the gold in this game is a joke to get.. in FFXI you could farm for like a day and not get enough money to do shit... but if you took a whole 4 hours just to farm you would have enough gold to probably last you like 3 months.

Food is basically a skill that is for an extended amount of time.. so I don't understand why you people are complaining about it.. It takes time to go do a quest for your skill.. it takes time to go get money to buy a skill... And it especially takes time for you to actually build up game skill, and teamwork. Some skills give you more health, give you more energy, help you win a match... that is all the same stuff that food does. So you guys basically have no point.

And btw, you are forced to get new weapons, forced to get new skills, forced to get new armor, forced to get everything in this game if you want to be any good.

Weapons, skills and everything else that you're "forced" to get are more or less permanent. Once you have them, you have them until you choose to get rid of them and can use them repeatedly. Something like you're suggesting, that's only temporary, would mean that anyone who wanted to compete would have to worry about maxing out their portential by coughing up gold for food every time they wanted to enter a battle. It's my understanding that this is the same reason things like potions have been left out of the game. It appears, to me, that ArenaNet doesn't want to have any consumable resource that people will be forced to buy before every battle, in order to compete effectively. Anything you obtain that modifies your character is permanent until you choose to let go of it.

Please, Zeffy, try to keep it civil. I know that it's no fun when everyone seems to dislike your proposal (I've gotten plenty of that myself) but trash talk is the last thing we need, if we want to be able to continue posting ideas freely here.

Differnt types off food that give differnt bonuses might be cool, for example, one food type could give soul reaping (very low, equal to lvl 1) so a sorc/mes could have a certain buff they wanted. Same thing for strength with a ranger.

I just some thoughts, I wont want food if it doesnt do somthing speacial like I sugested though.

It would add more complications than benefits to the game. The system is fine the way it is. Food would not improve it. For those that play a lot of PvP or even a lot of high level PvE, it would be a strain on their gold/time to play, meaning it would be a drawback for being really devoted and active in the game.

no no no a thousand times NO, there wasnt food and potions in this game, for one specific reason, this would reduce the need of healers, why would u need a healer to add to your damage when u can have a piece of food do it instead...just NO!
